Australia’s coolest pools of the year have been revealed, and they range from a sky-high shipping container pool to an ‘Insta-worthy’ plunge pool.
Thousands of public votes and judging by an panel of industry experts have crowned the winners across 20 categories as part of the annual Poolz Awards.
But one stood out from the crowd — a custom concrete infinity edge pool positioned to take full advantage of the breathtaking views of Middle Harbour in Seaforth, NSW.
Rob and Ben Hitchcock from FreeStyle Pools built the showstopper, as well as the winner of Best Family Pool.
It was designed to maximise the views.
“This pool project was such a pleasure to be involved in and we are so proud and honoured that it has taken out this year’s top Poolz award,” Rob said.
“The material selections were carefully considered to complement the contemporary home and landscaping.
“Adding the infinity edge blends the pool into the harbour and skyline beyond, while the use of glass fencing allows uninterrupted views of the pool and the magic backdrop.”
A backyard oasis in Paddington, which also took out Best Landscaping, took out the inaugural Pool Owners Australia Top Pick which was chosen by the 150,000 members of the Pool Owners Australia Facebook community, the largest group of pool owners and enthusiasts in the country.
Founder and CEO of Poolz Tony Loxton said the calibre of pools was particularly high this year.
“The Poolz Awards are a chance to celebrate Australia’s best pools and this year’s nominees were exceptional,” he said.
“We are a nation that’s obsessed with pools and whether we have a tight space in the backyard, live on a challenging slope, or want to make the most of waterfront or valley views, Australia’s talented pool builders are up to the task.
“We were blown away by the winning designs this year – from plunge pools in urban environments to elevated shipping containers, they are all stunning and have no doubt added a lot of value to their home.”
